Unpaintable
Unpaintable
Unpaintable
The lines of red and gold
Conjuring fair cities from afar
Glowing streets, illuminating clouds
But falling just beneath horizon's gaze
Or towers of light that somehow stretch
Beyond the engineering ken of man
P’haps held by threads
Gossamer-thin, invisible
Suspended from the goddess' hand
And there, a shape
In grey, across a darker sky it spreads
So carelessly draped
Performance art of cumulus
A wolf?
But the moment
Has already passed
Ungraspable
The colours start to fade before
The only question left to ask
Is whether
They were ever
There at all.
