The Technology Garden

A few years ago now, my colleagues and I decided to write a book about how to align Enterprise IT practices with business needs. Not a small challenge - the best approach, we decided, was to ask people that knew CIOs, enterprise architects and other senior decision makers.

The result is a distillation of best practice into a number of common-sense principles and practical steps. We also provide some scorecards, to help readers understand how well they’re currently doing and what they can do next.

We - myself, Dale, Neil and Neil - had such high hopes for this book, collating as it did the six pillars of IT leadership, as told by experts in the field. It is still, if I may, an excellent primer on how to do large-scale enterprise IT right.

The scorecards (devised by Dale) should be the checklist for every IT leader looking to know where they stand, and how to improve. Sadly, it looks like it is now out of print - but still available second hand.
