Security as an inhibitor?
In the past there have been moves by the IT industry to promote security as a business enabler. Looking round many organisations, this is clearly poppycock – but what of security as an inhibitor?
The lack of security is inhibiting business growth
What to do? Its all very well protecting against threats, be they internal or internal. But, if there are fears about weaknesses in the existing infrastructure, it is unlikely that these can be solved with some product or another.
If we want a joined up approach to security, this needs to have a centre, a locus of control. Even if it is not centralised, it still needs co-ordination.
We need to move the debate forward.
