IT-Director.com launched by Bloor Research, Certus and Silicon News

1999-04-01

Yesterday evening, the realities of how business will operate in the 21st century were very much in evidence at the House of Commons launch of IT-Director.com. Speakers Ian Taylor MP, Paul Cooper of British Gypsum, David Taylor of Certus and Robin Bloor of Bloor Research, all described how co-operative approaches, such as those enabled by IT-Director.com, would become essential elements of business success.

Robin Bloor, CEO of Bloor Research, described the role of IT-Director.com as a provider of “instant analysis” to its subscribers. This was noted by Ian Taylor MP as a key facet of the online service, acknowledging he was delighted that it would be available to members of the house. David Taylor, President of Certus, explained how IT-Director.com and Certus intended to provide a triangle of communication between end-users, vendors and decision makers. “IT-Director.com will help us provide a quality IT service to positively support business goals,” he noted. Paul Cooper, IT Director at British Gypsum, stressed the role of the future IT Director as focussing on business requirements and issues, whilst promoting and facilitating the use of IT. Continuing the co-operative theme, Certus also announced the launch of its 4th R campaign, involving businesses working with education to enable the next generation of IT-literate employees.
