Authors Assemble - Advice to Aspiring Writers

A few years ago, a social thread asked for advice for aspiring writers who were feeling stressed. Here was my contribution.

#1. Sadly, you can't just change your teacher. But what you can do is realise the joy of language doesn't have to be confined to the English class… #AuthorsAssemble

#2. Learning language is probably one of the best things you can ever do, but you are learning it all the time, with every book you read and everything you write… #AuthorsAssemble

#3. The fact you have put down in writing what you did already stands for something, it means you want to express yourself through the written word… #AuthorsAssemble

#4. You are clearly very articulate and expressive. These are qualities any writer needs, and they can be built upon, honed and improved over time, by simply doing more of them… #AuthorsAssemble

#5. So, don’t be downhearted. Know that most people have difficult experiences at school, because of a teacher or other reasons… #AuthorsAssemble

#6. And also, don’t see your diabetes as anything other than something to be overcome, for yourself. If the teacher see is it as disruptive, they probably have bigger problems… #AuthorsAssemble

#7. Above all, remember that one day you will look back on all of this. Yes, you will have had tough times but you will also go on to do amazing things… #AuthorsAssemble

#8. So harness your anger, turn it into determination and make sure you are in the driving seat for your own life. Best of luck to you! #AuthorsAssemble
