Another Morning

Another Morning

It starts just like the one before
Clothing shrugged and bleary eyes
Doubting Thomas, slippering awake
Stops and stairs, not yet for the day

Half-made choices mingling, torn
Teaspoon stirs, marmalade jars
Shrieking gadgets sound the charge
Curtains swish, to let in the day

Flick the latch, hair, crisp air
Coat and keys, shoes now tied
Practiced purpose, best foot forward
Long stride, now set for the day.
