An interesting remark made by one of the attendees at Tuesday night’s BCS meeting in Plymouth, where I was presenting on security topics. Yes indeed, I went all the way down there, just for that – but it was well worth it. While we would prefer not to live in a vacuum, sometimes it can be a bit isolating spending all of one’s time in a cave number crunching, or indeed, off at vendor events being dunked in the vat of marchitecture. So, I take whatever opportunities I can find to talk to real people about real IT problems. It does more than keep me grounded – it gives me a reason to keep doing it.
